Mountford Estate Wine was founded in 1991, and is a small hillside estate with three hectares of Pinot Noir vines and two hectares of Chardonnay. They only produce about 2,000 cases from the gently sloping vineyards on the limestone-rich Waipara Hills outside their stylish homestead.
CP Lin, perhaps the world's only blind winemaker, has managed to transform the grapes here (grown by viticulturalist Gerald Atkinson) into astonishingly fine wines of real intensity.
