Craggy Range Aroha Pinot Noir 2015
100% Pinot Noir grown on elevated terrace slopes at the Te Muna Road vineyard in Martinborough, where an ancient dried river bed delivers perfect growing conditions.
Hand-harvested fruit, 50% whole bunch, destemmed into a combination of open top stainless steel tanks and French oak cuves. Fermentation with indigenous yeast. Maturation took place in 30% new French oak barriques for 9 months, with coarse filtration before bottling.
Winemaker's Comments
Aroha is a romantic word in the Maori language meaning love. This special wine delivers great depth of aromatics with notes of plum, dark cherry, sage , thyme and fresh bark coming through. The palate shows a wonderful level of elegance from the low-cropping growing season, with a roundness of red fruit beautifully integrated with layers of savoury dry tannins. Finishes long.

Review in Stuff (Food & Wine) by John Saker, Jul 2017
"This wine's aromatics are sensational, full of red berry fruit-cum-floral charm. It finesses its way across the palate, fine in structure with a generous, yet unshowy, fruit presence. Craggy's best Pinot yet."
