Dog Point Chardonnay 2014

100% Chardonnay grown in the Marlborough region. Meticulous viticultural practices include low cropping and hand-harvesting.

Fruit was harvested in excellent condition and at optimum physiological ripeness. For added complexity, underwent 18 months maturation in French oak barrels, a small portion of which were new.

Winemaker Comments

Fermented using natural yeasts this wine is driven by a citrus core and mineral backbone, restrained flintiness and patisserie notes from extended ageing on yeast lees. Judicious use of oak leads to a wonderfully balanced Chardonnay with focused texture, vibrant fresh acidity and a long finish.

    Mary-Ann Worobiec's tasting comments:
"One of the best examples of Chardonnay from New Zealand, this is vivid, stylish and expressive with layers of sweet cream, orange blossom, nutmeg and mango flavors that are rich, juicy and succulent, revealing plenty of intensity and energy on the long lingering finish."
