100% Merlot from Kim Crawford‘s Corner 50 vineyard, planted on the Redmetal soils of the Ngatarawa Triangle of Hawkes Bay.
After harvest, grapes were crushed in open-top tanks and standard fermenters and inoculated with cultured yeasts. During active fermentation, caps were plunged 3 times daily with 24 days total maceration on skins. The individual parcels were drained to a mixture of French and American oak barrels and matured for 12 months before final blending and bottling.
Deep ruby with a purple hue in colour. An intense nose of ripe plums is complemented by liquorice aromas. On the palate, rich, dark berry fruit flavours with hints of mocha. Fine soft tannins promote a round texture with a lingering finish.
