100% Pinot Noir sourced from the Opawa ( Meaning "smoky river) vineyards. Located on an river bed. The Gravel asborbs the sun during the day, which radiates back in to the grapes at night.
Premium selected grapes are only used for this harvest with minimal handling followed by a cold soak and pressed into French oak barriques for maturation.
Grapes are machine harvested at night and pressed immediately at the winery. A cool fermentation takes place with a small portion fermented in large oak cuves adding a extra textual element to the wine.
A medium bodied and beautifully balanced Marlborough Pinot Noir. The nose shows fruit characters of ripe plums and wild blackberries with savoury spices and a hint of toasty oak. Elegant and juicy on the palate, it displays red fruit flavours and hints of liquorice accompanied by soft, fine tannins. This wine has an elegant structure, silky texture and juicy acidity to give freshness, and it culminates in a lingering finish.
