100% Chardonnay hand-harvested from separate individual plots within Te Mata Estate’s Hawkes Bay vineyards.
Each parcel was gently whole-cluster pressed, cold settled and racked to new and seasoned French oak barrels for fermentation. The resulting wines remained in contact with their yeast lees while undergoing malolactic fermentation. The finest lots were selected for further maturation, spending a total of eleven months in barrel.
Brilliant gold with an edge of bright green, the 2015 vintage is like a Hawkes Bay peach picked fresh from the tree. Intricate aromas of ripe stonefruit, nectarine, lemon zest and honey soften into creme brulee, citrus and roast nuts. Crisp fruit balanced against fine, refreshing acidity gives this wine immaculate poise. Te Mata Estate’s leading lady, Elston is Chardonnay royalty!
