Esk Valley Estate Wine

Esk Valley is one of Hawke's Bay's finest boutique wineries

Esk Valley Estate Wine is situated in the north of Hawkes Bay at Bay View. The winery was first established by Englishman Robert Bird in 1933 and acquired by George Fistonich in 1987. His influence has seen the consolidation of Esk Valley's reputation as one of New Zealand's leading boutique wineries.

Traditional methods allied with modern technology enable Esk Valley Estate Wine to make wines with texture and complexity. Small batch winemaking prevails and 70 year old open topped concrete fermenters are still used for the production of hand-made red wines. The Chardonnay is barrel fermented and red wines barrel aged for a minimum of one year, with Reserve styles spending at least 18 months in French oak barriques.
