100% Pinot Noir from carefully selected sites located within the southern Wairau Valley of Marlborough, including the Mustang and Barracks vineyards.
Fruit was de-stemmed into small open top stainless steel tanks and cold soaked for several days. The fermentations were carried out with indigenous yeast, with a peak temperature of 32°C. During the fermentation the caps were plunged to ensure gentle and complete extraction of tannins, colour and flavours. Following 3 weeks on skins each batch was transferred into 35% new French oak barrels and matured for 12 months.
An excellent season. A powerful bouquet and a wide selection of flavours, from the fragrant spectrum of rose, violet and ripe berry fruit to dark cherry with a hint of luscious plum. A seamless structure and concentrated palate, framed with ripe silky tannins and complex spicy oak and herbal notes. Long, fleshy and lithe.
