100% Sauvignon Blanc sourced from Cloudy Bay's vineyards located within the Rapaura, Brancott and Renwick sub-regions of Marlborough.
After gentle pressing and settling for a period of 24 hours, the juice was racked directly to 8% new French oak barrels and underwent a slow and steady fermentation initiated by indigenous yeasts. Then rested in barrel on fine lees until Spring and whilst in barrel, the wine underwent a partial malolactic fermentation. Careful maturation in the cellar is what creates the unique texture and acid profile of Te Koko.
Aromatically, Te Koko 2014 unfolds with flavours of grapefruit and white nectarine, displaying a fresh counterpoint to the richer notes of lemon curd and beeswax. The palate is tightly focused with a taut entry. Florid characters linger in the background, and finishes with an amalgamation of nectarine, glace fruits, and a subtle smoky oak complexity.
