Esk Valley Chardonnay 2017
100% Chardonnay from vineyard sites around the Hawkes Bay.
Individual vineyard parcels were harvested separately and fermented in a mix of French oak barriques and stainless steel tanks. Cultured and indigenous yeasts were utilised for fermentation and the finished wines were left on their lees until blending. Typically around 70% undergoes malolactic fermentation to naturally soften the acidity.
A full-bodied yet elegant style of Hawkes Bay Chardonnay exhibiting aromas of peach and melon intermingled with hints of butter, grapefruit and French oak spice.

"Already drinking well, the 2017 vintage was mostly (85 per cent) fermented in French oak barriques (15 per cent new); 15 per cent of the blend was tank-fermented. Light lemon/green, with a fragrant, slightly smoky bouquet, it is mouthfilling, with generous, vibrant, peachy flavours, a hint of butterscotch and good complexity."
