100% Pinot Noir from Block 3 of Felton Road's Elms Vineyard, located in the Bannockburn sub-region of Central Otago.
Unique gravity flow enabled fruit to be gently destemmed directly into open-top fermenters without pumping, with approx 30% whole clusters. Traditional fermentation with a moderately long maceration and aged in French oak barrels. In accordance with Felton Road's non-interventionalist approach to winemaking, it was fermented with indigenous yeast and not fined or filtered.
Saturated dark fruit characters on the nose are intertwined with roasted cinnamon spice and trademark crushed herbs. A lush palate with a sheer depth of sensuous fruit. This vintage is expansive with a fine tannin backbone that tightens and delivers a crystalline focus. Spiced chocolate notes make an appearance as always, contributing to the classic layers of intrigue that Block 3 is renowned for.
