100% Pinot Gris from the Mansons Farm vineyard in Bannockburn, Central Otago.
Only produced in exceptional seasons and this vintage was one of these; the wet spell in mid March brought some botrytis, adding complexity to the ripe fruit, which was hand harvested and processed with carefully. The juice was racked clean and fermented slowly to retain varietal expression. Chilling and racking the wine stopped the ferment, leaving residual sugar to provide balance and richness to the wine.
A late harvest Pinot Gris, this rich and luscious wine is full of confected fruit flavours of citrus, peach, nectarine and passionfruit. Intense fruits burst through onto the palate with more tropical flavours of mango and pineapple with the citrus and stone fruit flavours. Afresh acidity cuts through the residual sugar to stop it from being cloying and leaves a sweet but crisp impression on the finish.
