Made from Pinot Noir grown in vineyards in the Wairarapa region.
Fruit was hand-picked and carefully selected. 100% de-stemmed, cold-maceration and fermentation in stainless steel vats and left on skins for 3 weeks. Aged in 50% new and 50% used French oak barriques for 16 months.
Multi-layered nose showing sweet red and black berry fruits with some gamey/meaty aromas, rosemary and mocha. The palate has quite a density of elegant ripe dark cherries, plums and blackberry with hints of truffles, cedar, leather and smoky flavours. Nice minerality and wonderful concentration, with some silky-yet-firm structure of smooth but present tannins.
