Te Mata Estate Bullnose Syrah 2014

100% fully-ripened Syrah hand-harvested from Te Mata Estate’s Bullnose Vineyard in Hawkes Bay.

Individual lots were each destemmed and given a traditional warm-plunged fermentation. The resulting wines underwent extended maceration on skins before pressing and then a secondary malolactic fermentation. The separate wines were then run to a mixture of new and seasoned French oak barriques for 15 months’ maturation. During this time they were regularly topped and racked before egg-white fining, blending and bottling.

Winemaker's Comments

Opulent, lush and perfectly balanced, the wine rolls out of the glass in waves of mocha, oriental spice, plum and dark, dark cherry. Lavishly textured with concentrated layers of raspberry and blackcurrant. Elegant and faultless, this is a wine of great finesse, and the stunning 2014 vintage is the perfect celebration of a quarter century of Bullnose Syrah.
