100% Cabernet Sauvignon grown entirely in Vidal's Omahu Gravels vineyard, situated in the heart of the premium Gimblett Gravels sub-region of Hawke's Bay.
Fruit was destemmed and crushe nad the cap hand plunged. Fermentation took place in open top fermenters at temperatures of 30-34˚C. Spent 31 days on skins with 20 months maturation in 50% new French barriques. Minimal egg white fining and minimal filtration. Only 300 cases produced.
2014 was an outstanding season for Hawke's Bay and this perfumed wine shows intense aromatics of blackcurrant, dried herbs, graphite and cedar notes. A rich and concentrated palate of dark fruit combines with integrated cedar, spice and mocha notes. Elegantly balanced and textured with fine grained tannins; finishes with excellent mineral length. Shows excellent cellaring potential of 10+ years.
