100% Shiraz (also known as Syrah) sourced from several vineyards within the Hawkes Bay winegrowing region.
Fruit was harvested, destemmed and crushed directly into stainless steel fermenters for fermentation with Rhone isolate yeasts. After pressing and undergoing a malolactic fermentation, 70% was transferred to a mixture of new and seasoned oak barriques for maturation, with the balance kept in tank. After 20 months maturation on light lees, the wine was blended, lightly egg white fined and filtered before bottling.
An intriguing nose reveals floral wild herb aromas with notes of red plum, smoked bacon and white pepper. The palate shows further plum and herb characters, wrapped up with silky smooth tannins. Supple, highly approachable and excellent with food.
