100% Pinot Noir almost entirely (93%) grown in the Awatere Valley (principally the Ballochdale Vineyard), with the balance from the Southern valleys of Marlborough.
Fruit was hand picked, and hand plunged into open top ferments. typically matured for 14 months in a mixture of new and seasoned French barriques (35% new in 2016). Received minimal egg white fining and minimal filtration.
Winemaker's Comments
A consistently impressive Pinot Noir with a seductive bouquet of red and dark cherries, wild berry and subtle spicy clove notes on the nose. Expressive with an elegant and refined palate displaying richness and generosity. A complex, layered and balanced wine, which is complemented by fine silky tannins encasing concentrated fruit characters; all hallmark traits of classic Marlborough Pinot Noir.
