Burn Cottage Moonlight Race is a very pretty Pinot Noir with red cherry fruit and hints of the garrigue - elegant, delicate and fine.
The Pinot Noir was sourced from Burn Cottage's northeast facing vineyard located at the south end of the stunning Pisa Range in the Cromwell Basin in Central Otago. It was aged for 12 months in (25% new) French oak barriques, after which it was bottled unfiltered to preserve all the character of this noble grape. The name 'Moonlight Race' comes from a water channel (race) which passes through the estate, one of hundreds of channels created during the early years of European immigration to bring water down from the mountains.
"Moonlight Race is a blend of grapes from Burn Cottage Vineyard (35% ), Northburn Vineyard (35% ) and (30%) Mark ll Vineyard, with a mix of clones in each. 22.5% whole cluster. Similar in style to the regular Burn Cottage label but with more sweet fruit and a sappy influence adding complexity to berry, oak and floral flavours. A subtle and beguiling wine with finely pitched structure that allows access now while assuring a promising future." Bob Campbell MW
