Vidal Reserve Pinot Noir 2015

100% Pinot Noir from Vidal's Keltern Vineyard situated in Maraekakaho, a cooler sub-region of Hawkes Bay.

Hand-harvested bunches were destemmed, lightly crushed, and cold soaked on skins at 10-12° C for up to 10 days. Ferments were hand plunged allowing gentle extraction of flavour, aroma and colour compounds. Some batches were hot fermented to maximise extraction, while others were kept cooler to retain fruit characters. Pressed and run to 30% new French barriques where it underwent malolactic fermentation. Left in barrel on lees until the following summer in cooled cellars.

Winemaker's Comments

Beautifully fragrant red berry and floral aromas combine with flavours of cherry, spice and earthy undertones on a finely textured palate. Enjoyable in its youth, this single vineyard wine will gain further complexity with time.
