Esk Valley Chardonnay 2019
"...toasted grain and grilled citrus aromas...generous on the palate, bringing pineapple and white peach flavors into the mix, then finishing with bright citrus and roasted nuts." eRobertParker.com
Esk Valley is the estate's entry level Chardonnay - a great introduction to their range - and a full-bodied yet elegant style of Hawkes Bay Chardonnay.
|Fruit is sourced from vineyard sites around the Hawkes Bay, and individual vineyard parcels were harvested separately and fermented in a mix of French oak barriques and stainless steel, tanks to preserve the character of each plot.
Esk Valley is a high quality Hawke's Bay winery, and with one of New Zealand's most experienced winemakers at the helm, Gordon Russell, (plus developments in the cellar and vineyard), its wines from Hawke's Bay (including the famous Gimblett Gravels) and Marlborough just keep getting better and better. An estate to watch.
"Esk Valley's entry-level 2018 Chardonnay gives a strong indication of how good Hawke's Bay Chards can be. It kicks off with attractive scents of struck match, which rapidly give way to toasted grain and grilled citrus aromas. Medium-bodied, it's nevertheless generous on the palate, bringing pineapple and white peach flavors into the mix, then finishing with bright citrus and roasted nuts." robertparker.com

Lovely aromas of peach and melon intermingled with hints of butter, grapefruit and, French oak spice.
