Esk Valley Rosé 2020
"Ripe, round and supple, it's richer than many Rosés, with enough weight to ably partner grilled meats...." eRobertParker.com
Esk Valley's Rosé is a rich, pink Merlot style - a great food wine.Grapes for the vintage were sourced from two inland Hawkes Bay vineyards, both selected for their ability to produce full, elegant flavours. Individual vineyard parcels were pressed immediately resulting in juice with little colour or tannin pick up and fermentation was stopped when almost dry, leaving a small quantity of residual sugar to balance the crisp natural acidity.
Esk Valley is a high quality Hawke's Bay winery, and with one of New Zealand's most experienced winemakers at the helm, Gordon Russell, (plus developments in the cellar and vineyard), its wines from Hawke's Bay (including the famous Gimblett Gravels) and Marlborough just keep getting better and better. An estate to watch.
"Notes of ripe cherries, watermelon, and savory herbs appear on the nose of this Rosé, which is made from Merlot. Ripe, round and supple, it's richer than many rosés, with enough weight to ably partner grilled meats over the coming summer months." robertparker.com

An excellent food wine or great as an aperitif. Aromas of strawberries and red fruits predominate while a hint of spice adds complexity. Full flavoured, elegant and delicious, reflecting the excellent harvest.
