Wairau River's Pinot Gris boasts wonderful texture and fruit weight - rich, floral and fleshy.

The secret behind the vintage's weight and texture is ingrained in some of the oldest Pinot Gris vines in all of Marlborough; from the Home Vineyard dating back to 1990. Older vines means lower yields and more concentrated flavours. These grapes were harvested in the cool hours of the morning to keep the freshness locked in, and a portion of the wine was aged in older French oak to add texture and palate weight.

Wairau River was established in 1978 by Marlborough vineyard pioneers Phil and Chris Rosé on the banks of the Wairau River. The estate now accounts for the some of the regions oldest vines, and older vines produce lower yields of more concentrated fruit compared to their younger siblings. Today, this family-owned estate comprises ten vineyards, and all five Rose children are involved, from viticulture to the Wairau River Cellar Door and Restaurant.

The pure age of these vines give the wine texture and palate weight. It is rich, floral and fleshy with mouthfilling pear, crisp apple and spice flavours.
